Aset & Ausar: The Lovers

Card 6 | Aset & Ausar | The Lovers
Aset & Ausar | The Lovers

The tale of Aset & Ausar (known to the Greeks as Isis & Osiris) is one of the greatest tragic love stories ever told. After Ausar was murdered by his evil brother Set, the long-suffering Aset traveled the world to retrieve her husbands body to resurrect him. She used her powers to magically impregnate herself with her dead husbands seed, from which she would later giver birth to the future pharaoh, Heru.

The Aset & Ausar Lovers card shows Aset using her wings to protect the reposed body of her lover under the desert moonlight.

Themes

Just as Aset & Ausar were the archetypal Lovers, their card represents true love and its many expressions: eternal love, relationships, soulmates, romance, and desire. The relationship between Aset & Ausar is also imbued with the great sacrifices and selflessness Aset made for love.
