Ammit: Justice
Ammit, the Devourer of Souls, is the personification of divine justice and retribution. She has the head of a crocodile, the body of a lion, and the hind-parts of a hippopotamus—three of the deadliest “man-eating” creatures of Ancient Kemet.
Ammit eats the hearts of those judged unworthy against the feather of Ma’at at the scales in the Hall of Two Truths, condemning sinners to eternal damnation.
Themes
The theme of the Ammit Justice card is consequences. From this overall theme we get the concepts of divine/karmic justice, cause and effect, law, life lessons, and even fairness. The Ammit card also cleanses and purges isfet.
