Maryannu Charioteers: Warrior of Scarabs

The maryannu, or “young heroes”, were a caste of ancient chariot-mounted warriors in the Pharaoh’s military. Composed primarily of the sons of noblemen and the rich upper classes, these charioteers were the light cavalry of the Egyptian army; and they also served as the Pharaoh’s emissaries during peacetime.
