The step pyramid of Djoser was the first pyramid built in Kemet. It was architected by Imhotep the Wise for his patron, Pharaoh Djoser, in the 27th century B.C.E., and is considered the first large-scale cut stone monument in the world. The step pyramid was originally clad in polished white limestone which reflected the sunlight and could be seen from miles away.
