Imhotep the Wise: The Scribe of Ankhs

Imhotep, or “The One Who Comes in Peace,” was chancellor to the Pharaoh Djoser. Among the great polymath’s many accomplishments were architecting Djoser’s step pyramid and serving as the High Priest of Amun-Ra at Heliopolis. Considered a great author of wisdom texts and a great physician, his healing powers were renowned. He was one of only two commoners to be deified after death, granting him a status equivalent to that of a “demi-god.”
